If so, its probly ok to go with a free forum hosting place, and have a free domain, but If this is something real, you might be better off to join a real hosting company, where you can install the forum of your choice, like SMF forum software, or PHPBB forum software One reason why I would prefer to go for this route, is that a free platform is never fully guaranteed.
If you want to move later, the free domain is owned by them, not by you. I would prefer to get a domain name from namecheap, thats your domain, you control it. And then look for a host to choose. There are advantages of the free forum places, that said, sometimes if you look at what you need, costs for upgrades or even ad removal , plus the loss of complete control as there are things you cannot do, it might be better to look at having your own domain name, and hosting with someone else.
Nearly every host has 1 click software installers, where you can install a forum very quickly. Reaslistically though, you need to signup and try it out, and weigh up your options before you commit to really adding alot of content onto the forum.
I would also recommend asking support about what happens if you decide to move your free forum, to a paid platform. Some free forums will provide support for this, others will make it impossible. But again, I dont remember all its specific features, and its been years since I last tried it out. WSWD likes this. The biggest issue with free forum hosting is that many of them make it impossible to move once you forum gets big and you decide to use your own hosting.
You will likely have to pay them all sorts of money. As far as the ads are concerned, if you are going to have ads placed all over your forum, why not just buy a paid hosting plan and put the ads there yourself?

It seems like proboards is the closest to what I want from forums, HOWEVER a very big however , the ads they put on your forums are absolutely insane and unreasonable. I think there's some good free forums, but in general, they never can compete with other software, or because the people running the forums don't have a real website. Forums overall have gotten to appear so dead in recent years. There was a time when people either used forums or Myspace mainly, but Myspace is no Facebook.

I am reposting this from a support ticket since it was overlooked: I've had an InvisionFree Invisiondree that I've used for personal projects for the past 12 and a half years. I have a lot of things personally recorded here that I haven't saved anywhere else.
It's consistently been the same, with the old light blue layout that InvisionFree forums have traditionally had.
However, I just logged in again for the first time in a few weeks, and found that the entire layout of my forum changed. The url now shows "tapatalk" instead of "invisionfree". Moreover, I can't seem to access my Admin CP on it. All I get is a "bad gateway" error page. I've tried to access the Error code 0xcc fix old invisionfree Admin CP url directly, but it just redirects me back to the index page of torums forum.
Can anyone explain what's going on here? Is there a way to fix the layout back to the original version? Is there another Poke floats extended to access the Admin CP? Should I worry that all my stuff will be deleted and I should move it somewhere else? Though my other questions still stand. So why has mine been changed?

The option just isn't Invizionfree in the admin cp. They also refuse to give you your data without extorting a hundred dollars out of you.
Well, that's terrible if that's really the truth. Sadly I wish I was blowing smoke but I'm not. You cannot submit a support ticket on tapatalk without Invisioncree a premium member, which costs five dollars for the basic package.
Oh you can send them a Take two scrabble email sure, but Forum haven't heard from them in 3 weeks. They don't care, they will go out of their way not to help you. They have control of 2 of my boards that Invosionfree mitigrated without my knowledge or consent.
When I created a topic on their public mitigration help forum about retrieving the data and moving it elsewhere I was quickly shut down and told to "Settle in and give it time. From there, you can change all you like until you are content with what you've got. If you want to change images, just go to Images and supply the website URL for the image; for example, you want to change the banner, then just delete all the coding there, and place the URL there.
